The Chautauqua County Humane Society's 2nd Chances Thrift Store will be closed until further notice based on recommendations from New York State regarding the temporary closing of non-essential businesses. We are doing our part to encourage folks to stay at home and use proper practices to help put a stop to COVID-19.
We thank you for supporting the homeless pets at the Chautauqua County Humane Society and apologize for any inconvenience the closing causes you. We look forward to seeing you again when the store is allowed to reopen.

In an attempt to increase revenues to combat the rising costs associated with caring for the animals, CCHS announced that they will be opening a retail outlet which will sell quality previously owned items. The idea of a thrift shop was introduced to the Board of Directors in the fall of 2006 by Board Member Andy Jochum.
With interest in the idea gaining momentum from the Board, Mr. Jochum contacted hundreds of Humane Societies throughout the country that successfully operate a thrift shop or retail outlet. His research came back extremely positive and after presenting the pros and cons of operating a thrift store to the Board at the December 2006 meeting, the Board of Directors voted to approve the endeavor and a special task force co-chaired by Andy Jochum and Lyn Harris, both Board Members, began searching for possible locations.
The first Thrift Store opened in 2007 at our original location on the corner of 5th and Main St. in Jamestown, NY.
