The Chautauqua County Humane Society offers Pet Loss Services which include euthanasia and cremation.
If your pet is in the final stages of life, please call our front desk at 716-665-2209 x200 to schedule a euthanasia appointment. Pet parents will be allowed to stay with their pet until their pet is unconscious, if they wish.
If your pet has already passed, please call 716-665-2209 x200 and we will have you bring your pet to the shelter.
Euthanasia Appointment Hold Fee
We understand that making the decision to say goodbye to a beloved pet can be difficult. To help
ensure that appointment times are available for families who need them, a $25 non-refundable
appointment hold fee is required when scheduling an owner-requested euthanasia appointment.
Please note:
If you attend your scheduled appointment, the $25 hold fee will be applied toward
the cost of euthanasia.
If you need to cancel your appointment, cancellation must be made at least one day (24
hours) before the scheduled appointment in order to receive your $25 hold fee back.
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment, as well as no-shows,
will result in the $25 hold fee being retained as a donation to the shelter.
The $25 hold fee is not an additional fee when you attend your appointment; it is
applied toward the euthanasia service.

Cremation services are offered by Resting Acres Pet Cemetery in Bradford, PA. Pick up is on Wednesdays. If you choose to have your pet’s ashes returned to you, it takes 2 to 4 weeks for the ashes to arrive back to the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
