Community Puts CCHS Past Pennies 4 Paws Goal

The Chautauqua County Humane Society’s annual Pennies 4 paws campaign presented by Happy Hounds Hotel and Day Spa, The Chautauqua Mall, and Media One Radio Group was a great success. The effort wrapped up Friday, April 30th with a total of 1,720,575 ($17,205.75) pennies collected, far surpassing the goal of the 1,000,000 ($10,0000) pennies set back on February 12th when Pennies 4 Paws kicked off. CCHS Partnership Director Brian Papalia thanked area schools for getting involved, “We all have seen in the news how tough the school year has been for all involved with our local schools, but that didn’t stop so many schools from becoming involved with Pennies 4 Paws this year. Katherine Beaver brought the 6th grade classes at Randolph Elementary together to collect nearly a thousand dollars to benefit the homeless pets that rely on the Chautauqua County Humane Society. We also want to thank the Jamestown Teachers Association, Frewsburg Elementary, Pine Valley Central School, and several other schools that backed Pennies 4 Paws.
Papalia said as always local Businesses were instrumental in helping CCHS vault past the goal of one million pennies, “We want to thank local businesses like Lakewood Apothecary who raised nearly $500 through special Daffodil sales and donation collection. We also must put the spotlight on the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association for raising over $500 to benefit the homeless pets at CCHS.”
The proceeds from the Pennies 4 Paws campaign stays local and directly impacts the lives of the homeless pets that rely on the essential services of the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
