LOCAL STUDENTS DONATE GIFTS TO CCHS

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (January 8, 2015) During the recent holiday season, Paul B.D. Temple Elementary and Mrs. DeAngelo’s class from Panama Central School learned the true meaning of giving by treating the animals at CCHS to a happy holiday. Both schools donated a significant amount of treats, toys and other shelter necessities.

“We have done the donation drive for the Humane Society for about four years now,” said Kristy Winchester of Paul B. D. Temple Elementary, who orchestrated the event. “Our district does many different things to help out the community. The children love animals so they get really excited about bringing in items and watching the display case fill up.”

The students at Panama Central School decided to opt out of their normal gift exchange among each other and instead exchanged gifts for the animals. Coordinated by 4th grade teacher, Debbie DeAngelo, students have voted to donate to the shelter for a second year.

“It is a great way for the students to learn to give back to their  community,” said Mrs. DeAngelo. “And the students love it!”
