CCHS Vizslas Update 12-11-25
We are happy to be sharing encouraging updates following the intake of 19 Vizsla dogs rescued during a cruelty investigation in Sinclairville late last week. Thanks to swift community response and dedicated staff, the dogs are settling in well and showing signs of recovery.
Of the six dogs surrendered directly to CCHS, five have already been placed into adoptive homes and are scheduled to go home this week. The remaining dogs continue to receive care and attention at the shelter, where staff report they are doing well.
Kelly Johnson, Facilities Manager, praised the teamwork of staff and volunteers, “We have had a lot of help from other team members. So far, we are keeping up. We just have a lot of extra laundry and dishes, but our team always steps up, which is great.” Johnson also described the dogs’ progress: “These dogs are the sweetest dogs; they have been through so much and yes they showed some trauma when they first arrived. Now that they are getting into a routine of feeding, cleaning, going out on a regular basis they are doing fantastic! All are already putting on a bit of weight and not diving into the food like they are starving to death. They are getting much love and attention as staff adore them.”
CCHS Executive Director Jane Babinsky reflected on the outpouring of support: “It’s very overwhelming to know that we have had so much support during this cruelty case. It’s amazing. We are grateful and thankful to everyone who has come out to support in some way, from those dropping off blankets and food, to those who are fostering and adopting. We are very grateful to those all over the country and in Canada who donated to support these dogs.”
Babinsky also noted the next step in the legal process,” The bond hearing for all 19 dogs is Monday the 15th at 4pm, we will know more about what role we will play in the Vizsla’s future then.”
