Want to experience the energy, compassion, and love of having a dog? Try Expawditions! Get your Expawdition started right now by emailing asublett@chqhumane.org.

Expawditions is a program designed to get our dogs out of the shelter environment for the day and experience the world. This gives our adoptable dogs the chance to show their personalities outside of the shelter, it’s a way for us to get information for potential adopters that we would not otherwise have (how are they around bicycles, on a leash, in the car, etc.), and it gives you a chance to experience what it’s like to have a dog without the lifetime commitment.

Plus, think of the bigger picture! These trips provide the dogs with mental stimulation and enrichment that they cannot get in a facility. By keeping their minds stimulated and their bodies active, adoptable dogs often have a much lower stress level when potential adopters come to visit. Lower stress levels lead to a higher chance of adoption!
