The Return of the ASPCA Rescue Effect 8-22

The Chautauqua County Humane Society is again joining hundreds of shelters and rescues across the country to participate in the ASPCA’s national Rescue Effect campaign, a movement dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of pet adoption and the impact it has on animals everywhere. As part of this effort, CCHS will be offering fee‑waived adoptions on Saturday, August 22, from 11 AM to 3 PM.

During our previous Rescue Effect weekend, the community stepped up in a big way. We celebrated 12 adoptions in total. 7 on the day of the event, and 5 the day before! Families chose to adopt on Friday because they didn’t want to risk missing out on the pet they had fallen in love with. By adopting early, they ensured their new companion went home with them before the fee‑waived day arrived. It was a wonderful reminder of how deeply people connect with the animals they meet and how eager they are to give them a fresh start.

Please note that while the adoption fee is waived, all processes and procedures for adoption remain in place to ensure the safest and best fits for a successful adoption.

The Rescue Effect campaign runs from August through October and is designed to help organizations increase adoptions, engage their communities, and create more second chances for animals in need. This year, the ASPCA is providing $2 million in grants to support shelters and rescues across the country, helping cover adoption fees and strengthen operations so more pets can find loving homes.

Fee‑waived adoption events like ours are part of that mission. When you adopt, you create a ripple effect of kindness: you give one animal a home, and you open space for another who needs help.

If you’re considering adoption, Saturday, August 22 is the perfect time to visit, meet the animals, and learn how you can be part of the Rescue Effect. To learn more about CCHS, visit chqhumane.org, and to explore the ASPCA’s Rescue Effect campaign, visit aspca.org/therescueeffect.
