Beginning April 1st you can come to CCHS and take out a dog for a 2 to 4 hour Expawdition, no strings attached!

Expawditions is a program designed to give our animals a day off and get them out of the kennel environment and into the real world.  It gives you the chance to get some dog time, even if you don't have a dog of your own. Expawditions provides enrichment for our dogs and our community!

Going with you on Expawditions give our adoptable dogs the chance to show their personalities outside of the shared environment at the the Adoption Center and it’s a way for us to get information for potential adopters that we would not otherwise have (how are they around bicycles, on a leash, in the car, etc). These day trips provide the dogs with a day out and mental stimulation and enrichment that they can not get in a facility. By keeping their minds stimulated and their bodies active, adoptable dogs often have a much better kennel presence when potential adopters come to visit CCHS, and that often means they are adopted more quickly.

It’s as simple as walking through our doors and signing out a dog. You have to be 18+ years old with valid government ID. We always have a list of our longer term animals, or ones who would benefit most with a day out – or you can choose your own! A CCHS staff member will harness and leash up the dog for you and provide you with poop bags, a water bowl and a list of area businesses and parks for you to explore.
