Birthday Presents For the Animals At CCHS

This week the animals at the Chautauqua County Humane Society (CCHS) were treated to eight gift bags worth of presents as well as a donation of money that will also go directly to their benefit. This was all thanks to 9 year old Giada Schauman. Giada turned 9 on Saturday, January 20th and requested that her friends bring gifts for the animals at CCHS to her birthday party instead of for her. When asked why she made that decision Giada said “I felt bad for all of the cats and dogs that didn’t have stuff.” While at CCHS Giada had a tour of the facility and met Emma, an 8 year old Coonhound, Redbone Mix (Pictured with Giada). Giada is a student at Fenner Elementary School in Falconer, NY. CCHS Executive Director Kellie Roberts says “The whole community should be proud of Giada for the selflessness she showed in choosing to benefit the animals at CCHS over receiving gifts for herself.
