CCHS Building Project Breaking Ground

The Chautauqua County Humane Society (CCHS) is pleased to announce their 2015 More Than a Shelter Capital Campaign, which entails a 2,000 square foot expansion as well as multiple renovations to the existing structure, has broke ground. Clark Patterson Lee is the lead architect and G.L. Olson, Inc. is the general contractor.
The expansion will introduce the method of communal housing, essentially doubling the shelter’s canine capacity. Both of which will expand the shelters ability to better the lives of the animals that are brought into CCHS. The remodel will use existing space more efficiently, which will increase the space for community education and events and will allow for a better adoption experience.
Thanks to the generous support of many donors, including a grant from the ASPCA and additional funding from Lenna Foundation, Sheldon Foundation, Hultquist Foundation, Jessie Smith Darrah Fund, Carnahan-Jackson Foundation, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Laura J. Niles Foundation, among many individual donors, the project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The mission of the Chautauqua County Humane Society is to promote the adoption of animals, prevent all forms of animal cruelty and neglect, shelter lost, abandoned and homeless animals, and to provide education about the humane treatment of animals.
