#ClearTheShelter is a huge success!

Thursday, August 24, 2017

#ClearTheShelters hosted by NBC/Universal and WGRZ TV out of Buffalo was a major success!  At the Chautauqua County Humane Society (CCHS) adoption fees were waived and we were open extended hours for the event.  This past Monday WGRZ TV reported the final adoption numbers for the 7 shelters in Western, New York that took part in the program and we were #1!  That’s right thanks to the interest and support of the community and the adoption of 39 animals were adopted between 10am and 5pm.

Being #1 doesn’t matter as much as having all of the dogs and cats that were residing here at CCHS head off to new homes with loving families.  Community Relations Director Brian Papalia says “It’s an emotional experience to walk through the dog kennels and cat colonies at the end of the day and have it be quiet, because almost all of the animals are off to their new forever homes”.

Overall a total of 135 animals were adopted this past Saturday in Western, New York.

Not even a week after #ClearTheShelters, the Kennels and Cat Colonies are filling up again.  So there is always the need for people who are looking to adopt.
