Walk 4 Paws 2019 A Success

                                    15TH ANNUAL WALK 4 PAWS RAISES OVER $32,000 FOR THE ANIMALS!

 

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (October 14, 2019) The Chautauqua County Humane Society (CCHS) is pleased to announce the totals from the fifteenth Annual Walk 4 Paws, presented by Happy Hounds Hotel and Day Spa and Petco. Team and individual fundraising, Tag Days collection weekends, and sponsorship contributed to the $32,302 total. As always the money raised will go directly towards the mission of CCHS to improve and save lives through compassionate care, advocacy for animals, and commitment to the community.


The Walk 4 Paws was held Saturday, October 5th at Chautauqua Institution. Despite cold and rainy weather, 200 people showed up to walk in support of the animals, and for the pet costume contest. The Costume Contest winner was a tandem costume of Little Bo Peep and her dog made to look like a sheep. The contest costume trophy was provided by The Trophy House in Jamestown. .

Community Relations Director Brian Papalia said "It’s amazing to have all of these folks come out and walk to support the animals that rely on CCHS.  A special thanks goes out to all of the people that have been involved and fundraising for a while now.  Some teams started way back in August. The walk is our biggest fundraiser of the year and to meet and exceed the goal is fantastic."   

The top three individuals and teams were announced at the event and will receive awards for their efforts. Keith Warner was the first place individual, collecting $2,545, Carm Proctor was second with $2,200 which she raised in memory of her daughter Lauren, and Reiley Kolstee  was third with $1,270. “Working 4 Paws” was the top team, raising $3,441, Flarfy’s Family was 2nd with $1,374 and the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Board or Realtors was third with $1,306. Trophies will be presented to the top 3 individuals and team at the Season of Hope open house to be held at the CCHS Adoption Center on Saturday December 7th. 

CCHS would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all those who volunteered at, participated in, or donated to the 2019 Walk 4 Paws. The success of the event was made possible our sponsors. This year’s presenting sponsor was Happy Hounds Hotel and Day Spa and Petco.  The Canine Crusader sponsor was Chautauqua Chemicals. Shelter Supporters Included: The Shults Auto Group, Fessenden, Laumer & DeAngelo, RKD Alpha Dog, Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, Blackstone Advanced Technologies, Truck-Lite, G&E Tents, Tables & Chairs. Shelter Advocate included: The Lockwood Agency, Edborg-Hnatyszyn Group at UBS Financial Services, Digitell, Kings’ Heating and Cooling, Fresh Press Studios,  Unplugged Productions and The Trophy House. This year’s media sponsor was the Media One Radio Group which includes SE-93, WHUG 101.9, Rock 103, 106.9 Kiss FM, 1240AM and 101.3 FM WJTN and 1340AM Kissin’ Oldies. Media One Group is the official media sponsor of CCHS.

Community sponsors also played a major role in the walk this year.  Papalia said “It was great to have folks from the Children’s Safety Village, Ryder’s Cup, Roger Tory Peterson Institute, The Chautauqua County Department of Health, The Haunting At The Mall, Full Moon Rising Bakery and Wag Supply Co. on hand for people to mingle with and pick up some goodies.   We appreciate the time the representatives took from their already busy schedules to support the animals at CCHS in this way.”
